TACOMA, Wash. -- Last night the Tacoma City Council unanimously passed a resolution in support of moving forward with a project to build a soccer-specific stadium in Tacoma that would become the future home of Sounders FC 2. This resolution from the city council follows and reaffirms a similar resolution passed by the Metro Parks Board of Commissioners on Monday, Dec. 11.

"Lots of work still to do with our partners at Metro Parks, the City, and Sounders FC, but this is a meaningful step," Tacoma Rainiers President Aaron Artman said. "It's exciting to see the enthusiasm around the project, and we look forward to reaching out to a broader coalition of the community to do something that invigorates Central Tacoma and the supporter community at large."

These resolutions provide a clear path forward for stadium construction, with the goal of having a facility ready for the 2020 United Soccer League season. While the project progresses, Sounders FC 2 will play all their home matches at Cheney Stadium, beginning in March 2018.
The full 2018 Sounders FC 2 schedule will be announced early next year.
