The MVP of the last season's Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game highlights the players included on the initial roster for the 2018 Tri-City Dust Devils. Luis Asuncion, who helped lift the Northwest League over the Pioneer League in last year's All-Star Game, is one of eight former Tri-City players set to rejoin the Dust Devils.

Other notable returners include right-handed pitchers Henry Henry and Joe Galindo, who along with Asuncion were selected to play in the 2017 Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game. Two mainstays in the outfield from 2017, Tre Carter and Aldemar Burgos, will also be back with the Dust Devils.
In addition to the returners, the team will feature a number of talented young players. Three of the San Diego's first five picks from the 2017 MLB Draft, Blake Hunt, Mason House and Sam Keating, are included on the team's initial roster. Cole Bellinger, brother of 2017 National League Rookie of the year Cody Bellinger, will be a member of Tri-City's pitching staff.
Right-handed pitcher Wen-Hua Sung is slated to make his professional debut with the Dust Devils this summer. Sung became the first Asian amateur player to sign with the Padres in franchise history when he agreed to terms with San Diego in 2016. The Taiwan native is no stranger to performing on a large stage, having helped his team finish second at the Little League World Series in 2009.
The Dust Devils are expected to receive additional players this week from the 2018 MLB Draft, which took place June 4-6.
There has also been in a change to the team's previously announced coaching staff. Former major league player Mike McCoy will manage the Dust Devils this season. McCoy will be joined by pitching coach Giancarlo Alvarado, hitting coach Pat O'Sullivan and returning fielding coach Oscar Salazar.
