A hot start faded quickly for the Tri-City Dust Devils (13-11) on Saturday night as the team lost to the Eugene Emeralds 8-4 at PK Park. Luis Almanzar, Tre Carter, and Luis Anguizola each had two hits in the loss for Tri-City.
The Dust Devils jumped out to an early lead after Tre Carter drove in two runs with a single in the top of the first inning. Despite having the bases loaded with only one out after Carter's hit, Tri-City was limited to only two runs in the inning. The lead would not last for long for the Dust Devils. The Emeralds scored six runs off of Tri-City starter Dauris Valdez in the first two innings and would go on to score eight unanswered runs after the Dust Devils' early advantage. Tri-City scored two more runs in the eighth inning and twice had the tying run at the plate with the bases loaded during the rally, but the comeback bid was halted by Eugene.
It will be the first day game of the season for the Dust Devils on Sunday afternoon at PK Park. First pitch will be at 1:05 p.m. from Eugene. Right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez will start the fourth game of the five-game series for the Tri-City. The Emeralds will counter with right-hander Jose Albertos. The team will return to Gesa Stadium on July 12th for Thunder Alley Motorsports Night presented by Thunder Alley Motorsports. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
