D’Shawn Knowles’ first High-A home run proved the offensive highlight in an 8-2 Vancouver Canadians (24-24) win over the Tri-City Dust Devils (21-27) Tuesday night at Gesa Stadium.

Knowles’ 5th inning blast, a solo shot over the right field fence, got the Dust Devils on the board. Vancouver, though, scored single runs off Nick Mondak (2-4) in the first three innings, and three in the 5th, for a 6-1 Canadians lead through five innings.

Tri-City would get a run closer in the 8th, with Jordyn Adams reaching on an error to lead off the inning. Following a wild pitch another error would advance him to third base, and Gabe Matthews brought Adams in with a sacrifice fly down the right field line. That brought the Dust Devils within 6-2 in the 8th.

Vancouver, though, would get two more runs in the 9th to close the scoring and secure the win for Sem Robberse (3-1). The Dutch righty gave up one run in six innings for the victory.

Robberse and Canadians pitching held Tri-City to three hits on the night: the Knowles home run, a 3rd inning double to deep left field by Straton Podaras, and a 2nd inning Osmy Gregorio opposite field single.

For the Dust Devils, Greg Veliz threw two shutout innings of relief, covering the 7th and 8th innings. Lefty Connor Higgins made his Tri-City debut in the 9th inning.

The Dust Devils and Canadians face off again at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night. It’s 80s Night at Gesa Stadium, presented by Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates, with fans encouraged to wear their favorite outfits from the 80’s while totally tubular 80’s music blasts through the stadium speakers.
