Box Score

The RoughRiders (14-9) started the scoring in the top of the second inning when Josh Hatcher led off the frame with his first triple of the season against Alex Santos II (0-4) and later came around to score on an error.

Corpus Christi (7-16) evened the score 1-1 with Quincy Hamilton’s solo shot in the bottom of the second frame. The homer marked the only run allowed by the Frisco pitching staff in the series so far as Ben Anderson (1-1) turned in a quality start, spinning 6.0 innings of one-run ball on four hits, no walks and four punchouts.

In the top of the fifth, Cooper Johnson broke the 1-1 tie with his second homer of the season, a solo shot to left field.

Leading 2-1 in the top of the sixth inning, Aaron Zavala gave the Riders their second triple of the evening and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Abimelec Ortiz.

The Frisco bullpen continues to dominate, combining to toss 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball while surrendering only one hit and striking out two. Reid Birlingmair earned his second save of the season, picking up a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Offensively, the RoughRiders were held to just four hits, but three of them were for extra bases. The first single of the evening did not come until Cody Freeman picked up a one-out single in the ninth.

Next, the RoughRiders continue a six-game road series with the Houston Astros affiliated Corpus Christi Hooks at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, May 2nd. The RoughRiders will turn to RHP Nick Krauth (2-0, 8.04) against RHP Tyler Guilfoil (1-3, 5.94) for the Hooks.
