51s Host Fresno & Reno in 8-Game Homestand (July 16-23)

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team, in their 30th season as a member of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), and Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, return to Cashman Field for an eight-game homestand against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, on Monday, July 16 at 7:05 p.m. The four-game series against the Grizzlies will conclude on Thursday, July 19. The 51s will then host intrastate rival, the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a four-game series from Friday-Monday, July 20-23. All eight-games on the homestand will begin at 7:05 p.m. Las Vegas will play 12 out of 16 games at Cashman Field from July 16-31.

The 51s, under manager Marty Brown, are currently 52-40 (.565) on the season and in second place in the Pacific Southern Division, 2.5 games behind the Sacramento River Cats (55-38, .591), Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's. The Grizzlies are in third place in the most competitive PCL division in 2012, with a 51-41 (.554) record. The 51s will conclude their brief four-game road trip in Northern California against Sacramento on Sunday afternoon.

Las Vegas is averaging 4,629 fans (217,586) through 47 home dates in the 2012 campaign. The season-high crowd was 11,465 vs. Salt Lake on May 7; second-largest crowd was 11,346 vs. Colorado Springs on June 15 and 11,026 vs. Tucson on July 4th. The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in "home" attendance in all 29 seasons (1983-2011) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 9,892,584. The 51s will welcome the 10-millionth fan at Cashman Field if the attendance reaches the 325,000 mark in 2012.

The opener and the finale of the eight-game homestand will feature Value Menu Monday (July 16 vs. Fresno & July 23 vs. Reno). The 51s and Aramark, for the fourth season, have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item!

Budweiser Dollar Beer Night, presented by KOMP 92.3 FM, will be featured in the finale of the four-game series against the Grizzlies on Thursday, July 19. Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

Frenso's roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Giants organization, according to Baseball America: right-handed pitcher Heath Hembree (No. 3) and outfielder Francisco Peguero (No. 5).

A spectacular postgame "Fireworks" show, presented by the Nevada Department of Wildlife, will be featured in the series opener against Reno on Friday, July 20. Firework nights will also feature "Flat Screens!" Five flat screen televisions will be given away to selected fans throughout the game.

Cosmo Bobblehead Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, will be presented on Saturday, July 21 and the gates open at 6 p.m.

Sam's Club Family 4-Pack Night will also be featured for Saturday's contest. The 4-Pack consists of: 4 tickets to the game; 4 hot dogs & 4 sodas; 4 Las Vegas 51s Hats. The 51s three remaining Sunday "home" games will be played at 7:05 p.m. (July 22 vs. Reno; July 29 vs. Salt Lake and August 12 vs. the Iowa Cubs).

Reno's roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Diamondbacks organization, according to Baseball America: left-handed pitcher Tyler Skaggs (No. 3) and outfielder A.J. Pollock (No. 6). The Aces also have the top two hitters in the PCL: outfielder Adam Eaton (.390); second baseman Jake Elmore (.378) and third baseman Ryan Wheeler (.357, leads PCL with 90 RBI).

In 2009, Las Vegas and Reno developed the Silver State Diamond Challenge and the "Silver Plate Trophy" to add to the excitement to the rivalry for the two PCL teams that represent the state of Nevada. The three-year S.S.D.C. history: Las Vegas captured the 2009 inaugural series (tied 8-8 and won the "Draw of the Cards" between the two Mayors); Reno won the 2010 series (11-games-to-5) and then retaining the trophy in 2011 with the series tied at 8-8. In 2012, Reno leads the 16-game season series, 7-games-to-5.

The 51s broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Fox Sports Radio 920 AM, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at LV51.com. Russ Langer, the seven-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 13th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

All 51s games will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via MiLB.com and LV51.com.

Following the homestand, the 51s will embark on a brief four-game road trip to Northern California to face Fresno from Tuesday-Friday, July 24-27. Las Vegas and Fresno will meet eight times over a 12-day span (July 16-27).

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved), $13.00 (plaza) and $14.00 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the "Fireworks Extravaganza" that was held on the 4th of July.
