Doohan named Director of Communication

Webster native returns to Wings' staff
February 20, 2013

The Rochester Red Wings today named Tim Doohan the team's new Director of Communication as announced by General Manager Dan Mason.

Doohan, a native of Webster, NY, previously spent two years as the Media Relations Assistant for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs following internships in the PR/communications departments of the Buffalo Bisons and Red Wings. Most recently, Doohan served as the Media Relations Assistant for the Charlotte Knights.

"We are excited to bring Tim on board," Mason said. "He brings an outstanding work ethic, a passion for the game of baseball and a vast experience in the International League which will make him a vital addition to our already talented front office staff."

"The Red Wings are where I got my start in this great game and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to come back and serve this first-class organization and community," said Doohan. "To be able to come home and show up to work at Frontier Field everyday, a place where I watched countless baseball games as a kid growing up, is a really special thing."

Doohan, a 2005 graduate of Webster Thomas High School, earned bachelors' degrees in Sport Management and Communications from SUNY Cortland in 2009. While enrolled at Cortland, Doohan got his first taste of working in baseball right here in Rochester where he worked as a Media/website intern for the Wings in 2008.

Following another internship down the New York State Thruway in Buffalo in 2009, he found his way to Allentown, PA and the IronPigs where he coordinated all media requests and credentialing, oversaw the team's website and edited all team publications, among other duties as the Media Relations Assistant. Doohan held a similar role with Charlotte to begin 2013 before joining the Red Wings team.

Doohan replaces Mark Rogoff, who returns to his hometown of San Diego, Calif. to pursue a career in coaching after spending one season with the Red Wings.

Doohan can be reached by e-mail here or by phone at 585-454-1001, ext. 3006.
