Bruce Bettering the Community

Rochester Red Wings Bat Dog, Bruce, has announced his Bruce Bettering the Community Campaign! Bruce and the Red Wings are set to raise money for two local organizations - Honor Flight of Rochester and the Veterans Outreach Center – during the 2024 season.

"I'm ecstatic to be carrying on Milo's legacy in making a difference in the community with Bruce and his "Bruce Bettering the Community Campaign." - Josh Snyder, Milo's Dad

"Since 2008 Honor Flight Rochester has flown over 4000 local veterans to their memorials in Washington, D.C. on what has been described as their "Trip of a lifetime." Bruce the Bat Dog will be very helpful in continuing our missions making sure that we leave no veteran behind. Our flylist contains the names of 1100 heroes awaiting their turns. The Bruce Bettering the Community Campaign will make a big difference. Thank you Bruce!" - Rich Stewart, President, Honor Flight Rochester

"There's nothing more American than baseball and when it comes to honoring our nation's heroes, we have a strong partner in the Rochester Red Wings. With everyone's help, we're going to be able to continue to provide great care to our community's veterans. We also have to give a 'round of a paws' for our new furry friend, Bruce. What a wonderful addition to the Red Wings family." - VOC Executive Director, and US Army veteran, Laura Heltz

"Commitment to community is not just a pledge; it's a promise we renew every day. As partners in the Bruce Bettering The Community initiative, we stand shoulder to shoulder, dedicated to honoring our veterans through initiatives like Honor Flight and the Veterans Outreach Center. Together, we forge a path of gratitude, service, and support, ensuring those who served our nation are never forgotten."- Steve Schuld, President, Flower City Group

The Flower City Group will also be sponsoring two Meet & Pets on July 5th and September 5th. They will also be sponsoring a Bruce replica jersey giveaway on September 5th to the first 500 fans. Help Bruce Meet His Goal...

Honor Flight of Rochester became an official hub in the Honor Flight Network in 2008. Since then the founding board and core group of volunteers have been actively engaged in building a viable organization to provide travel opportunity to thousands, rather than handfuls, of veterans residing in the greater Rochester community.

The Veterans Outreach Center of Rochester founded locally in 1973 by returning Vietnam Veterans, today’s Veterans Outreach Center remains anchored in our community and offers a comprehensive portfolio of supportive services designed to meet the needs of veterans and their families. Through the generosity of our community, all of these programs and services are provided free of charge.
