Fred Costello - Red Wings Organist

Fred Costello has been entertaining fans at Red Wings games since 1977. His baseball trivia knowledge produces the annual Trivia and Lists, showcased each year in the Red Wings yearbook.

Fred's musical background includes performances in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Hollywood, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. His jazz group "Fred Costello & Co." performs in local clubs, concerts and at private functions.Fred, a Syracuse NY native, has been featured as top sports organist on NBC's Game Of The Week, was elected to the Rochester Walk Of Fame in 1999 and given the Charlie Wagner Award from the Press-Radio Club in 2009.

In 2011, Fred received the prestigious "Spirit of the International League Award". Fred's local musical involvement in addition to nightclub engagements includes his music studio, Costello Music, which is located in the world famous House Of Guitars.

In 2023, Fred was inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame and the Rochester Red Wings Hall of Fame!

Fred Costello's Autobiography, "A LIFETIME OF NIGHTCLUBS & BALLPARKS" is Fred's story of wanting to be either a baseball player or professional musician. When the dust settles, he's a musician at the ballpark with over 40 interesting years in between.The book takes us through his early career playing musical engagements by the age of 14, a stint in semi-pro ball, and 11 fun-filled years playing with his band in the top venues in Las Vegas, Canada, the Bahamas and Mexico. Included are interesting stories of mob-owned nightclubs, national radio and television appearances, and offers from such teams at the Yankees, Mets, Rockies, Flyers and Sabres. "ANTHOLOGY" CD AVAILABLE: Fred's latest CD showcases his versatility in an array of settings including jazz, rhythm and blues, doo-wop, and an earlier recording of Fred playing jazz accordion. On August 2, 2016, the Red Wings gave out 1,000 Fred Costello bobbleheads to commemorate his 40 seasons as Red Wings organist.
