Threes Two Much: Power lose 7-1

Two three run frames push Intimidators past Power
June 2, 2014

(Charleston, WV- June 2, 2014)-  The West Virginia Power fell to the Kannapolis Intimidators on Monday night at Appalachian Power Park, 7-1. The Intimidators raced out to the early advantage behind a Trey Michalczewski three-run homer and never looked back.

Kannapolis put two on with back-to-back hits with two outs in the first and Michalczewski made West Virginia pay with a three-run dinger to center field. The Power would put one on the board in the fourth when an Elvis Escobar RBI infield single plated Erich Weiss.

The Intimidators, however, would put the game out of reach with three more runs in the seventh behind a Danny Hayes two-RBI double and an RBI base knock off the bat of Jacob Morris.

Power starter Justin Topa (3-3) was charged with the loss while Kannapolis hurler Andrew Mitchell (3-1) earned the win. Wyatt Mathisen posted a 3-for-4 performance in the Power loss.

West Virginia hosts the Kannapolis Intimidators on Tuesday, June 3, at Appalachian Power Park. Dovydas Neverauskas will take the hill for the Power against the Intimidators Thaddius Lowry. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-2287.
