Snodgress, Wilkins earn first big league call

Winston-Salem has graduated 25 players to MLB in Dash era
August 31, 2014

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Aug. 31, 2014) - One day after Chris Bassitt made his Major League debut, the Chicago White Sox purchased the contracts of two more Dash alumni-left-hander Scott Snodgress and first baseman Andy Wilkins.

As a result, Winston-Salem has produced 25 big leaguers since becoming the Dash in 2009. All but one of these players made their debut with the White Sox. This season, five former Dash stars have climbed to The Show for the first time, with the aforementioned trio joining infielder Carlos Sanchez and right-hander Taylor Thompson.

A fifth-round pick in 2011, Snodgress shined in eight starts with Winston-Salem in 2012. The Stanford product was 4-0 with a 1.50 earned run average during the Dash's run to the Carolina League postseason. He helped Winston post the best record in full-season Minor League Baseball (87-51-1) and reach the Mills Cup Championship Series. This season, Snodgress is 6-8 with a 4.01 ERA in 29 appearances between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte.

Wilkins recorded a tremendous season with the Dash in 2011, during which he hit .278 with 23 homers and 89 RBIs in 134 games. In 2014, Wilkins leads the International League with 30 home runs in 127 games with Charlotte. This total is good for a share of eighth place in the Minors. Wilkins was Chicago's fifth-round pick in 2010 out of Arkansas.

Snodgress, Wilkins and the rest of the White Sox finish the month of August with a 2:10 p.m. ET date with Detroit at U.S. Cellular Field on Sunday. The Sox are 61-75, 13.5 games back of first place in the A.L. Central Division.

The Dash will return to Winston-Salem in April of 2015 for the best family-friendly entertainment in the Triad. For information on ticket plans for the 2015 season, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287.
