Jays sign three to minor league deals

Lopez, Fox and Gindl all get spring invites

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed INF JAKE FOX, OF CALEB GINDL and RHP WILTON LOPEZ to minor league deals with invites to Major League spring training.

FOX, 32, is a veteran of 193 major league games with Baltimore, Oakland and the Chicago Cubs with a .237 (116-489) career average, 20 home runs and 73 RBI. He hit a career-high 11 home runs with the Cubs in 82 games during the 2009 campaign. Fox spent last season with Double-A Reading in the Phillies organization and hit .308 (88-286) with 22 home runs and 70 RBI in only 78 games.

GINDL, 26, has spent the first eight years of his professional career in the Brewers organization after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 amateur draft. He played 65 games in Milwaukee over the past two seasons and hit .232 (35-151) with five home runs and 14 RBI. In 110 games with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds in 2014, Gindl averaged .227 (82-362) with 20 doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBI.

LOPEZ, 31, has appeared in the Major Leagues in each of the last five seasons, having pitched for the Houston Astros, 2010-2012, and the Colorado Rockies, 2013-2014. Combined, the righty has posted a 16-17 record and a 3.54 ERA in 292 career big league games (two starts). Lopez has struck out 221 and walked only 57 in 305.1 Major League innings. In 2012, he was 6-3 with a 2.17 ERA and 10 saves in 64 games with the Astros.

Last season, Lopez was 1-2 with a 4.57 ERA in 23 outings with the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox.
