2015 BIG LEAGUE WEEKEND RECAP:

The two-game series for Big League Weekend had a total attendance of 18,382.

Friday, March 13 - The Chicago Cubs defeated the Oakland A's, 5-3, in the opener of the 2015 Big League Weekend two-game series before a crowd of 8,007 at Cashman Field.

Right-hander Jake Arrieta recorded the victory with four solid innings. He allowed 4 hits, 1 unearned run, issued no walks and struck out 3. Left-hander Eric Jokisch pitched three scoreless innings and didn't allow a hit and struck out three.

Third baseman Tommy La Stella led the Cubs with a 3-for-3 performance and shortstop Addison Russell was 1-for-1, two walks double, RBI, two runs scored. The Cubs scored two runs in the second inning to take a 2-1 lead and added three runs in the sixth.

Left-hander Drew Pomeranz suffered the loss. He pitched three innings and allowed 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), walked 1 and struck out 6. Third baseman Max Muncy led Oakland with a 3-for-3 performance with a double, walk and a two-run homer in the eighth inning (3 RBI).

Saturday, March 14 - The Chicago Cubs defeated the Oakland A's, 3-1, in the finale of Big League Weekend before a sellout crowd of 10,375 at Cashman Field. 

Las Vegan Kris Bryant led the Cubs with a 2-for-2 performance including 2 home runs and 3 RBI (a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the third inning and a solo shot in the sixth).

Right-hander Kyle Hendricks recorded the victory for the Cubs with five no-hit innings. He struck out three and issued no walks.

Right-hander Jesse Hahn suffered the loss for Oakland. He pitched 3.1 innings and allowed 5 hits, 2 runs, issued no walks and struck out 3.

The A's were held hitless until a lead-off double to left field in the eighth inning by designated hitter Matt Olson (1-for-4).
