Jays option Pompey, Albers to Buffalo

Blue Jays select the contracts of Copeland, Carrera

The Toronto Blue Jays tonight announced that they have selected the contracts of OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA and RHP SCOTT COPELAND from the Buffalo Bisons and optioned OF DALTON POMPEY and LHP ANDREW ALBERS to the Herd.

Pompey has played 23 games with the Blue Jays this season and has averaged .193 (16-83) with six doubles, two home runs and six RBI. He appeared in 12 games with the Bisons a season ago and hit .358 (19-53) with five doubles, five RBI and six stolen bases.

Albers was promoted from Buffalo to Toronto earlier on Friday and allowed one run in 2.2 innings of work in the Blue Jays' 9-4 loss in Cleveland tonight. Albers has made four starts for the Bisons this year, going 1-3 with a 3.09 ERA. The southpaw has allowed just 22 hits in 23.1 innings of work with 12 strikeouts and six walks.

Copeland was 2-1 with a 1.44 ERA that led all Bisons starters. The righty made four starts for the Herd this year and allowed just 13 hits in 25.0 innings of work. Carrera hit .325 in 21 games with the Bisons with a team-high six stolen bases and nine multi-hit performances.
