Bisons fall in Durham, 7-0

Herd offense silent in first game without key part
9:42 PM EDT

Minus one of the biggest bats in the International League, the Bisons offense remained silent in a 7-0 loss to the Durham Bulls in North Carolina.

IL Player of the Month for April, Chris Colabello suited up in Blue Jays' blue, not Bisons' red on Tuesday night, and his now former team was held to just four hits in their fifth shutout defeat of the season.

Colabello had his contract purchased by the Blue Jays before the series opener at Durham Bulls Athletic Park and his power bat was missing in this one. The Herd had just one at bat with runners in scoring position through the first seven innings. Three singles and Brad Glenn's eighth inning double were all Buffalo could muster against Bulls starter Andrew Bellatti and four relievers.

Meanwhile, it was a former Blue Jay that did a lot of the damage against the Herd. Former Toronto catcher J.P. Arencibia had four hits, including solo home runs off Andrew Albers in the fourth and off Gregory Infante in the seventh. His second blast was the first of back-to-back home runs with former Syracuse Chiefs' All-Star, Corey Brown following suit.

Arencibia drove in a third run with a two-out single in the eighth inning to give the Bulls the decisive 7-0 win.

Having not started since April 26 because of his promotion to the big leagues, Albers did solid work for Buffalo. The southpaw gave the Bisons a chance to win, allowing only Arencibia's first home run in five innings of work. The Bulls did their work against the Herd bullpen, scoring three in the sixth and two in the seventh to put away the win.

BISONS NOTES:
To make roster room for Colabello, the Blue Jays optioned Jonathan Diaz to the Herd. He will report to the team in the next few days…The Bisons lineup featured just two players, Matt Hague and Caleb Gindl, who were in the Herd's Opening Day lineup…Bobby Korecky was activated off the disabled list and pitched an inning of relief, allowing an unearned run. Luis Perez was transferred to New Hampshire (AA).
