51s Host El Paso, Reno, Salt Lake from June 6-17!

51s Host El Paso, intrastate rival Reno and Salt Lake in season-long 11-game homestand from June 6-17

               LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, and the 2013 & 2014 Pacific Southern Division Champions, will open a season-long 11-game (12-day) homestand on Saturday, June 6 against the El Paso Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. The four-game series against El Paso will conclude with a matinee contest on Tuesday, June 9 at 12:05 p.m. Following a PCL scheduled off day on Wednesday, June 10, the 51s will host intrastate rival, the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a four-game series from Thursday-Sunday, June 11-14. Las Vegas will then conclude the homestand against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, in a three-game series from Monday-Wednesday, June 15-17 (15-16 at 7:05 p.m. & 17th at 12:05 p.m.)  

                Las Vegas, under third-year manager Wally Backman and the 2014 PCL Manager of the Year, are currently on an eight-game "All Tennessee" road trip (0-6 record) that concludes on Friday evening against the Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.   The "first place" 51s (29-25 record) hold a 2.5 game lead over second-place El Paso (26-27) in the Pacific Southern Division.

                The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada. 

                2015 ATTENDANCE: In 23 dates, Las Vegas' total is 128,218 for an average of 5,575. The 51s began the 2015 "home" season with back-to-back sellouts on April 17 (11,007) and April 18 (9,928). The "home opener" crowd on April 17 of 11,007 was the largest in the 33-year franchise history (10,622 - inaugural home opener on April 10, 1983 vs. Salt Lake City). The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in "home" attendance in all 32 seasons (1983-2014) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,772,427

                The annual Inside Kids Carnival will be featured in the opener of the homestand on Saturday, June 6 against El Paso on Communities in Schools of Nevada Night. The popular "carnival" will be held inside the Cashman Convention Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. and the carnival is free with a game ticket to the Las Vegas/El Paso contest at 7:05 p.m.

Communities in Schools of Nevada Night - June 6: CIS of Nevada is the local affiliate of the nation's leading dropout prevention program, doing whatever it takes to empower students to stay in school and achieve in life. Currently in 43 schools and serving 44,000 students statewide, CIS of Nevada hope to build on its partnership with the Las Vegas 51s, a staple of the community, to increase awareness about our mission and our successes in Clark, Elko and Washoe counties. Communities in Schools of Nevada, Board Chair Susie Lee and Plaza Bank generously sponsored tickets for their valued staff to attend this special awareness event.  

                Game two of the four-game series on Sunday, June 7 will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m. 

                Smith's Value Menu Monday will be presented in game three of the series on June 8 and the opener of the three-game series vs. Salt Lake on June 15 at 7:05 p.m. Monday "home" games will feature a "Value Menu" for the seventh straight season! The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

                El Paso's roster features one of the top 10 prospects in the Padres organization, according to Baseball America: Outfielder Rymer Liriano (No. 6).

                The opener of the four-game series against the Aces on Thursday, June 11 at 7:05 p.m. will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night on Three Square Night. "Dollar Beer Night" will be presented at every Thursday home game during the 2015 season. Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.  

Three Square Food Bank - June 11: Three Square Food Bank will benefit from a portion of proceeds from ticket sales for the Las Vegas 51s game on June 11. Three Square's President and CEO Brian Burton will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. There will be opportunities for spectators to donate and learn about the nonprofit organization's mission to provide wholesome food to hungry people in Southern Nevada. This partnership provides an opportunity for Three Square to connect with a local audience about the issue of food insecurity in our community, as well as raise funds to aid in the fight against hunger.

                A spectacular post-game "Fireworks Show," presented by Desert Radiologists & #SpritzerSeason with Barefoot Refresh will be featured on Friday, June 12 at 7:05 p.m. on Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada Night.

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada - June 12: Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada will be collecting Peanut Butter at the Main Entrance to Cashman Field to support the Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry.   The Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry provides nutritious options for an average of 4,500 families in need each month. Peanut butter is a common staple in many households and a grocery item needed to fill the pantry shelves. Take your family out to the ball game and help the Las Vegas 51s and Catholic Charities' fulfill its mission of serving the local community.

                51s Fedora Hat Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, presented by Nevada State Bank, will be featured in game three of the series against Reno on Saturday, June 13 at 7:05 p.m. on ALS Association Nevada Chapter Night.

ALS Association Nevada Chapter - June 13: The ALS Association Nevada Chapter is pleased to partner with the Las Vegas 51s to provide our supporters and pALS (people with ALS) and their families a fun night of baseball. Rowena Yabut, whose husband Leo Yabut has ALS, will be throwing out the first pitch in honor of Nevada's ALS community. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, and so we are always excited to partner with baseball teams and players. The ALS Association is leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

                The finale of the series against Reno on Sunday, June 14 will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m.

                Reno's roster features one of the top 10 prospects in the Diamondbacks organization, according to Baseball America: Outfielder/catcher Peter O'Brien (No. 8).

                In 2009, Las Vegas and Reno developed the Silver State Diamond Challenge and the "Silver Plate Trophy" to add to the excitement to the rivalry for the two PCL teams that represent the state of Nevada.

                Salt Lake's roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Angels organization, according to Baseball America: Second baseman Alex Yarbrough (No. 8) and right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano (No. 9).

              The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Sports 920 (AM) The Game, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com. Russ Langer, the nine-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 16th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.              

                All 51s games (home & away) will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via LV51.com.

                Following the homestand, Las Vegas will embark on an seven-game (eight day road trip) beginning on Thursday, June 18 in Northern California against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The four-game series will conclude on Sunday, June 21.

                Following a PCL scheduled off day on Monday, June 22, the 51s will then travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to face the Bees in a three-game series from Tuesday-Thursday, June 23-25.   

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the America First Credit Union Box Office at Cashman Field. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non-game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug.

                The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $11.00 (reserved, $12.00-Day of Game); $14.00 (plaza, $15.00-Day of Game) and $15.00 (field, $16.00-Day of Game) & the blue dugout seats at $25.00. The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on field, plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the "Fireworks Extravaganza" on Saturday, July 4 (all seats are priced at $15.00 for this special event).
