Hot Spot: Power beat Suns 4-2

Brewer goes six and Neverauskas seals win for WV

(Hagerstown, MD- July 27, 2015)-  The West Virginia Power beat the Hagerstown Suns 4-2 Monday night at Municipal Stadium. Colten Brewer allowed two runs over six innings and Michael Suchy went 3-4 to lead the Power to their eighth win of the season against the Suns. 

Hagerstown scored a run against Power starter Brewer in the bottom of the first when D.K. Carey doubled in Osvaldo Abreu. West Virginia tied the game in the top of the second. Suchy doubled, and, with two out, Elvis Escobar singled him home to even the score at one.

Trailing 2-1 after four complete, the Power scored three times in the top of the fifth. With runners at second and third, Jordan Luplow singled in the tying run. A Connor Joe sacrifice fly gave West Virginia a 3-2 lead and Suchy singled in Luplow to give the Power an insurance run. 

Brewer (3-8) pitched six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in his fourth quality start of the season. Dovydas Neverauskas pitched the final three innings, earning his second save of the season. Justin Amlung (2-1) took the loss in a spot start, allowing all four West Virginia runs on eight hits.

West Virginia and Hagerstown close their season series on Tuesday morning at 11:05 am. Austin Coley seeks his 12th win of the season and will be opposed by Mario Sanchez.
