'97 Governors' Cup Reunion Night July 30

As part of the season-long 20th season at Frontier Field celebration, the Red Wings are hosting a 1997 Governors' Cup Reunion Night at the ballpark on Saturday, July 30 presented by Castle and the Democrat & Chronicle! In their inaugural season at Frontier Field, the Wings beat Columbus in a dramatic five-game series to win their 10th Governors' Cup -- the most of any team in the International League (Columbus, who won the title in 2015, has 10 as well).

WHO'S COMING BACK? Several key members of the 1997 club will be returning to Frontier Field on July 30 including manager MARV FOLEY, INF P.J. FORBES, OF JIM WAWRUCK, LHP RICK KRIVDA, LHP BRIAN SHOUSE, RHP BRIAN SACKINSKY and OF SCOTT BULLETT. 

All former players in attendance will sign autographs from 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm. A few of the guys will also take part in a post-game interview on the field prior to fireworks. 

The first 5,000 fans will get a poster reprint of the sports page from the Democrat & Chronicle from the day after the Wings' Cup win!

CAP GIVEAWAY! The first 2,000 fans will receive a FREE '97 Championship cap courtesy of Segar & Sciortino.

The first 5,000 fans will receive a commemorative mini poster giveaway featuring the front page of the D&C sports section the day after the Wings won the Cup!

POST-GAME FIREWORKS! The post-game fireworks show presented by ESL Federal Credit Union will feature music hits from 1997!

 

RELIVE THE MAGIC OF 1997 as clips from the season -- including Game 5 of the Governors' Cup Championship series at Frontier Field -- will be played on the videoboard throughout the game and fireworks show!
