WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 3, 2016) - Despite a home run and RBI triple from Hunter Jones, Myrtle Beach took an early advantage and led the entire way in a 5-2 win over Winston-Salem on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark.

For the second straight contest, the Pelicans (13-11) scored first on a home run in the opening frame. Gleyber Torres crushed a solo shot to left field off Dash starter Spencer Adams (3-1) to give Myrtle Beach a quick 1-0 lead in the first.

The Pelicans added another run off the right-hander in the third. With runners on second and third and one out, Yasiel Balaguert drove in Rashad Crawford on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

Adams ended up going five innings, allowing six hits and two runs in his first loss of the season. He entered as the only Dash hurler with multiple personal victories. Myrtle Beach added two runs off Manny Martinez in the sixth and one run in the eighth against Danny Dopico to cap its scoring.

Jones provided all of the offense for Winston-Salem (10-16) in this contest. The California native smacked his first home run of the season in the sixth inning, a solo shot to left. Jones added an RBI triple in the eighth to pull the Dash within three at 5-2. However, Myrtle Beach reliever Jose Rosario shut the door on Winston-Salem, throwing one and a third scoreless frames and picking up his second save of the season.

Myrtle Beach starter Jonathan Martinez (2-1) dominated Winston-Salem, allowing only one run and two hits in six innings. The Dash fall to 2-10 at BB&T Ballpark, its worst 12-game home stretch in the facility's history.

Winston-Salem returns to BB&T Ballpark on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the final contest of a three-game set against the Pelicans. Righty Brandon Brennan (first High-A start) will make his first start for the Dash this season, while the Pelicans send right-hander Zach Hedges (2-2, 2.16 ERA) to the bump.
