July 26, 2016

(Charleston, WV - July 26, 2016)- The West Virginia Power dropped the series finale to the Rome Braves 6-5 Tuesday afternoon at State Mutual Park. The Power scored three runs in the eighth to cut a four run deficit to one but could not complete the comeback.

Rome got the scoring started in the first off Power starter Dario Agrazal with a pair of runs on an RBI single and sacrifice fly. Austin Riley homered over the left center field fence in the third to put the club up 3-0.

Agrazal (6-8) took the loss despite working a quality start with six strikeouts in six innings.

The Power got on the board against Touki Touissiant in sixth. After a Logan Hill single, Carlos Munoz reached on an error which also advanced Hill to third. Jordan George knocked a sacrifice fly to score Hill and make it 3-1. West Virginia scored an additional run in the seventh when Tyler Filliben scored on a wild pitch to pull the team within a run.

Touissiant (3-7) allowed one unearned run in six innings en route to the victory.

Rome broke the game open with a three run seventh on three consecutive bases loaded walk which forced in all the runs and gave the Braves a four run lead.

West Virginia responded with a three run rally in the eighth. After back-to-back singles, Jordan George started the comeback with a run scoring double. Ryan Nagle plated another with an RBI groundout and John Bormann capped the scoring by singling in George to make the score 6-5.

However that was as close as they would get as Daniel Watts retired the club in order in the ninth and notched his second save.

Hill went 4-4 to pace the Power offense and George led the way with a pair of RBI.

After an off day Wednesday, the Power return to Appalachian Power Park on Thursday for a four game series against Delmarva. Logan Sendelbach starts for the Power against Christian Alvarado. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 P.M.
