Dominating Dozen: Power win 12-7

Arribas, Hill and Munoz drive in three apiece as WV takes series
August 7, 2016

(Salisbury, MD- August 7, 2016)-  The West Virginia Power knocked off the Delmarva Shorebirds 12-7 Sunday night to capture the four-game series. Daniel Arribas knocked his eleventh home run of the season and Logan Hill finished two for three with three runs batted in to pace the West Virginia's offensive outburst.

The Power jumped early on starter Jhon Peluffo with a pair of runs in the first. After a Mitchell Tolman single and a Logan Hill walk, Carlos Munoz suingled to right-center, driving in the pair to put the Power up 2-0.

Delmarva got one run back in the first on a solo home run by Randolph Gassaway over the left field fence.

West Virginia, however, blew the game open with a four-run, eight batter second. Logan Ratledge reached second on an error to start the frame. One batter later Christian Kelley singled him home for the first run of the inning. Alfredo Reyes singled and Casey Hughston reached on an error which loaded the bases for Logan Hill, who blasted a bases-clearing double off the right field wall to give West Virginia a 6-1 advantage.

The 'Birds loaded the bases with nobody out in the third but Dario Agrazal limited the damage to just a run-scoring fielder's choice, before inducing an inning-ending double play.

The Power added on another pair of runs in the fifth when Daniel Arribas hit a two-run home run over the left field fence, his eleventh of the season and his first homer with any runners on base.

Peluffo (0-2) gave up the first eight runs, though only three were earned, over four and two-thirds innings.

Delmarva came back for three runs in the last of the fifth, all with two outs, on three base hits and a hit batter. That would be the final inning for Agrazal (7-9), who allowed five runs and six hits over five innings.

Once again, West Virginia had an answer in a nine batter sixth inning. With one out and Alfredo Reyes at first via a walk, the Power recorded four consecutive base hits, highlighted by an RBI double from Carlos Munoz, scoring four more runs to go up 12-5. Delmarva did tack on a run in the sixth and one more run in the eighth, before Sean Keselica set down the side in order in the ninth to finish out the victory.

Munoz and Ryan Nagle finished with three hits each while Hill, Munoz and Arribas all knocked in three runs to lead the West Virginia attack.

The Power return home Monday night for a seven game homestand beginning with the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Logan Sendelbach starts game one for West Virginia opposite 'Hoppers starter Trevor Richards. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 P.M. at Appalachian Power Park.
