(Charleston, WV - July 16, 2017)-  The West Virginia Power couldn't handle the Greensboro Grasshoppers, falling 7-3 on Sunday. Hunter Owen broke the Power homerless streak in the fifth.

The Grasshoppers got to James Marvel in the first inning. After a leadoff walk put a runner aboard, Corey Bird tripled into right plating Brian Miller. Bird would immediately follow, scoring on a James Nelson groundout. Miller tallied an RBI in the second on a groundout himself, making it 3-0.<o:p>

Greensboro tacked on three runs with the bases loaded in the fifth inning. With two outs, Walker Olis flew a ball into center that bounced off Garrett Brown's glove as three runs came across, making it 6-0.<o:p>

West Virginia broke onto the scoreboard with a solo shot by Owen in their half of the fifth. The homer ended a ten game homerless streak for the Power. Prior to the long ball, the Power's last home run was on the Fourth of July in Lexington, Kentucky (Albert Baur).<o:p>

West Virginia added one in each the sixth and eighth but never got the offense moving collectively. Marvel (4-7) pitched five but took the loss. Dustin Beggs (8-5) was solid through six and grabbed the victory. The Power and Grasshoppers finish their final series against each other on Monday night.
