Bisons fall 1-0 in pitching duel against Gwinnett

Bisons get just one hit on the day

The Bisons fell to Gwinnett 1-0 on Saturday night through strong pitching from Luiz Gohara and the Braves' bullpen. The game was witnessed by a solid crowd of 15,556 at Coca-Cola Field. Gohara allowed just one hit and a pair of walks in four innings of work from atop the mound.

Gohara allowed just one hit and a pair of walks in four innings of work from atop the mound. Before calling it a day, he also delivered five strikeouts. Akeel Morris (W, 1-2), Dan Winkler, and Phillip Pfeifer then kept the runs column clean in relief. 
The G-Braves' first and only run of the day came in the opening inning. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Sean Kazmar Jr. reached base with a single and a double respectively to put the Braves in scoring position. Scoring Acuna, Rio Ruiz batted a groundout towards first base to secure an early lead. 
Buffalo had just a single hit on the night. The only hit recorded was a bunt single by Dwight Smith Jr. in the bottom of the first. Despite the lack of offense, the Herd did have the tying run on base in the ninth after Dwight Smith Jr. reached on a fielding error by the Braves' Luis Valenzuela. Smith Jr. made it all the way to third before the game ended through a passed ball and a groundout. 

After activating him the night before, the Bisons started Brett Anderson (L, 0-1). The southpaw gave a solid four innings of work and yielded a run and three hits. Chad Girodo kept the pitching duel intact with three full innings of scoreless relief. In that span he had a trio of strikeouts and a pair of hits. Chris Smith closed things out for the Herd with a scoreless couple of innings.  
Buffalo finishes up the three-game set with Gwinnett on Sunday. With first pitch slated at 1:05 p.m., Luis Santos (3-11, 4.20 ERA) will get the start for the Bisons and Manny Barreda (0-0, 3.14 ERA) will be on the mound for the G-Braves. 
BISONS NOTES: Tonight's paid attendance of 15,556 is the fourth straight game for the Herd that had an attendance of over 10,000. This is also the 13th straight home game for the Herd that's over 8,000 in attendance...Toronto has selected the contract of LHP T.J. House...Danny Jansen's hitting streak of nine games ended after finishing 0-3.
