24 Indians Alums Open Season on MLB Rosters

The 2024 MLB season kicks off today with a total of 24 former Spokane Indians players opening the year on big league rosters. Seven Indians alums are featured on the team's parent club—the Colorado Rockies—while a trio of former players will suit up for the reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers. A total of 14 MLB teams, six in the National League and eight in the American League, and will start the year with a lone Indians alum on their roster. Atlanta Braves reliever Jesse Chavez ('03) is the longest-tenured player with Inland Northwest roots, having last suited up for the Indians over two decades ago. On the other end of the spectrum are Tyler Kinley and Brendan Rodgers, who both spent time with Spokane last season on rehab assignments.
