The Aberdeen IronBirds, Class A short season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are inviting fans out for its 2nd annual Night Under the Lights on Wednesday, June 13 from 6-9PM to meet the 2018 team and new manager, Kyle Moore. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to experience new food options and concession offerings; during the offseason, the IronBirds invested nearly $400,000 into the upgraded food and beverage operation at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the team will take the field at 7:00 p.m. for practice.
"With Opening Day one week away, we are excited to give our fans a sneak peak at the team and a taste of some of our delicious new food offerings," said IronBirds General Manger Matt Slatus. "We are invested in making the game day experience special for every person that walks into Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium - from the action on the field to the flavors in the stands, there is something for everyone to enjoy each and every game day this season."
This season, IronBirds fans will enjoy six new portable food concepts, along with fun and unique menu items such as the Bush League Sundae - a "cool" take on the classic ice cream sundae derived from Bush's Baked Beans and the Oink Cluck Moo hot dog - a 100% all beef frank topped with chicken tenders, cheese sauce, BBQ sauce and crumbled bacon. Additionally, at every home IronBirds game, fans can enjoy happy hour featuring select $3 draft beers and discounts on ballpark favorite food items like hot dogs and pretzels. Happy Hour begins each day when the stadium gates open and concludes fifteen minutes prior to first pitch.
Picnic menus in the BGE Home Picnic Pavilion and the Plaza Ford Picnic Decks have all been upgraded to include new, fresh and local items. The Leidos Club Level now includes an upgraded buffet offering either carving or action stations each night, as well as fresh choices from local farms and purveyors.
Opening Night is set for Friday, June 15 at 7:05 p.m. as the IronBirds host the Hudson Valley Renegades at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, concluding with the best firework show in Harford County. Opening weekend will also feature the season debut of the Aberdeen Star-Spangled Banners on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17. Every Sunday, the IronBirds will change their name to the Aberdeen Star-Spangled Banners as a way to recognize the state of Maryland as the birthplace of the national anthem. All summer long fans can enjoy weekly home-game promotions, including Friday fireworks, Saturday pre-game catch on the field, and Sunday Senior Stroll (prior to the game) and Kids Run the Bases (following the game).
Single game tickets are on sale and can be purchased online at www.IronBirdsBaseball.com or by visiting the box office at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.
