IronBirds Close 2019 Season with Best Record in Team History

IronBirds set club record with 42 wins, showed development on and off the field, in the community and look towards an exciting future

Aberdeen, Md. (September 16, 2019) - The Aberdeen IronBirds, Class A short-season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, have completed their 17th season in exciting form. Despite missing the New York-Penn League playoffs by one game, the club finished third in the regular season boasting 42 wins, a mark high enough to manage a new franchise record. Adding to the on the field success, the ballclub tallied 702 strikeouts, scored 311 runs and hit 41 homeruns during the 2019 season, giving fans a glimpse into the future of the Baltimore Orioles.
Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium hosted close to 120,000 fans, 451 group outings and achieved seven sold-out games this season. Fans consumed 14,219 hot dogs and 6,491 hamburgers, in addition to the new Leidos Club Buffet that featured a fresh salad bar with locally grown produce, as well as Chef Wild Bill's carving station featuring flank steak, whole turkey, pastrami and more. On the concourse, guests of Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium were able to try newly-added soft serve ice cream and the savory taste of in-house smoked meats, giving unmatched quality to the concessions.
The IronBirds continued to support the local community with the addition of 30 new nonprofit partners and donation of 3,500 tickets including the American Red Cross, Sexual Assault/Spouse Abuse Resource Center (SARC) and the Baltimore, Cecil and Harford County Libraries. Community initiatives such as Hits for Healthy Kids presented by Freedom Federal Credit Union raised $3,010 and Homeruns for Boys and Girls Clubs presented by Cook Auto raised $2,000 to support various programs. The PNC Scholarship contest provided $6,500 in tuition assistance to students enrolled at Cecil Community College and Harford Community College. In addition, the IronBirds partnered with Plaza Ford of Bel Air to donate $1 from each Plaza Ford Party Deck ticket sold to the Miracle League of Harford County.
With seven award-winning fireworks displays, appearances from Orioles alumni and Super Bowl XXV Champion Coach Brian Billick as well as several world-renown traveling entertainment acts, the 2019 season will be remembered as one of the most exciting and fun-filled seasons at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.
