GUANCE DEALS: Hector Guance was nothing short of brilliant tonight. His line looked like this:6.0 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 SO. He was using a combination of his power sinker and off speed to keep the Doubledays quiet all night long. It was the second time this year that Guance went 6.0 innings pitched. The other outing came on July 3rd, when he went six innings strong against Hudson Valley.
GETTING TO CATE:
TORRES GETS HOT: Alexis Torres had his 6th multi-hit game of the year for the 'Birds when he doubled in two runs in the 6th. He was set up by two singles from Cody Roberts and
YAHNIMAL: Willy Yahn delivered the dagger in bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Yahn lined a double down the left field line to score runs 5 and 6 to put the IronBirds comfortably ahead of the Doubledays. Yahn would finish the night 2-for-4.
SATURDAYS ARE NOW FOR THE 'BIRDS: The IronBirds were 0-3 on the year when playing on Saturdays. Tonight, the 'Birds changed their luck as they drilled the Doubledays.
'BIRD WATCHING: Alexis Torres had a night. He was 3-for-4 with four RBI's. It was the second time this year in which Torres collected three hits. It was a season high for Torres with the four RBI's.
Robbie Thorburn continues to roll. Thorburn had three hits tonight, all three singles. He has been a huge producer for the 'Birds all season long as his average is at a very good .316.
Willy Yahn has been Mr.Clutch for Aberdeen so far this year. He picked up two more RBI's tonight on his was to a 2-for-4 night.
