IronBirds Fall to the Valley Cats 6-1
Aberdeen, MD: It was all Valley Cats in the first of a three game set. Bryan Abreu went 5.0 IP giving up only one run and striking out four Aberdeen batters. Gray Fenter was handed the loss as he threw 4.0 IP striking out two and walking four. EARLY AND OFTEN:
Aberdeen, MD: It was all Valley Cats in the first of a three game set.
EARLY AND OFTEN: The Valley Cats got the scoring going in the first inning as Michael Wielansky smoked a two run single with the bases loaded. After a JC Escarra solo home run in the second, the Valley cats went back to work putting up runs in both the 3rd and 4th inning.
ESCARRA STAYS HOT: Escarra came into the night with the only IronBird home run of the season. He doubled his homeun total when he turned on a fastball from Bryan Abreu and registered it over the right field wall and into the Aberdeen bullpen.
NO LET UP: The Valley Cats continued their good offense tonight in the 6th when their DH, Jose Carillo pounded a fastball off of Javier Echevarria. It was Carillo's first of the season. The homerun came at a critical time as Echevarria had gotten in a groove the inning before dominated as he struck out the side in the 5th.
