Fishkill, N.Y. - Aberdeen came to Hudson Valley with high hopes for a three game set. They needed to take all three from the Renegades to make the playoffs and came up just short in a 2-0 loss in game one
KNIGHTS LAST NIGHT: Blaine Knight started for the IronBirds for the fourth and final time in 2018. He had 14 wins under his belt already in 2018. His velocity was up to where it was for the Razorbacks and his slider had the wipeout capability that earned him a third round selection.
He gave up one run on back to back hits, a double for Erik Otsberg and an RBI single for Allen Smoot made it 1-0 Renegades.
GROUP GEMMING: Hudson Valley's pitchers were nearly untouchable. Zach Trageton started and earned the win. He allowed two hits that came back to back to Nick Horvath and Cody Roberts, but Aberdeen could not bring them home.
Chris Muller threw the next two innings and allowed just one hit.
BRYCE BLAST: Bryce Brown hammered a homer that sucked some wind out of Aberdeen in the 7th. That made it 2-0 and the 'Birds had six outs to score.
CLOCK STRIKES ZERO: Before the game Aberdeen's elimination number from the wild card was one, this loss seals the deal that they will fall just short of the NYPL Playoffs.
NOT DONE: Still two games in Hudson Valley, tomorrow at 5:05 from "The Dutch."
