Baysox Seek Prince George's Stadium Naming Rights Partner

October 10, 2016

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today they are seeking a stadium naming rights partner for Prince George's Stadium. The 2017 season with be the team's 24th year playing at Prince George's Stadium and the franchise will be celebrating its 25th season.

This will be the first time since its opening in 1994 that a multi-year naming rights partnership will be available for the stadium. Revenue from the naming rights will help the Baysox and the property owner (Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission) ensure our facility will remain viable and kept to the high standards our fans and players deserve.

"We believe this is a great opportunity to form a partnership that will encourage economic growth and community development in the region," said Baysox President Ken Young. "This investment partnership will be crucial to our future here in central Maryland. Our hope is to join with another established brand with an area presence to help achieve mutually beneficial goals."

Numerous improvement projects have been undertaken over the years to help keep Prince George's Stadium one of the top Minor League ballparks in the Eastern League and across the state of Maryland, including a full field replacement in 2011 and the addition of two new videoboards.

Located just south of the Rts. 301 and 50 interchange, the stadium sits in a busy triangle 20 miles from Washington, D.C., 30 miles from Baltimore and 15 miles from the state capital in Annapolis, Md. The 10,000 seat stadium welcomed its 7 millionth fan during the 2015 season and has become a community hub and popular family destination over the past two decades. A partnership with the Bowie Baysox provides exposure to more than 250,000 fans each season through in-stadium signage and other promotional tools, including access to the stadium marquee sign along the busy Rt. 301 corridor.

The Bowie Baysox franchise has been the Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles since its inception in 1993. The club has been a member of the Eastern League for the past 24 years and has played all of its home games at Prince George's Stadium since June 1994. In 2015, the franchise won its first Eastern League Championship. Prior to the 2015 season, the club signed a four-year Player Development Contract extension with the Baltimore Orioles that runs through the 2018 season.
