COVID-19 FAQ

The 2021 season began with reduced stadium capacity based on local and regional conditions related to the Covid-19 virus. The reduced stadium capacity will run through our game on Sunday, May 30 when we will return to near full-capacity status. Beginning with the home game on Friday, May 28, face masks will no longer be required at the ballpark. There may be some modifications made to the schedule given the fluid nature of Covid-19; those changes (if any) will be determined by the Commissioner of Major League Baseball.

As we inch closer to the beginning of the season, we will continue to update this page with Covid-19 specific updates as warranted, so please check back periodically.

Updated May 27, 2021

Q: What is your schedule of games this season?

A: The Baysox regular season began on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. VIEW SCHEDULE HERE. There may be modifications to the schedule given the fluid nature of Covid-19; those changes, if deemed necessary, will be made by the Commissioner of Baseball.

Q: What are the safety protocols at the ballpark to make it safe for spectators?

A: The Bowie Baysox have always strived to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for fans during all games and stadium events. We will continue to closely monitor the health department recommendations here in Bowie and Prince George’s County and will continue to evolve our response as needed. Procedures such as ongoing regularly scheduled cleanings, multiple hand sanitation stations, and other steps will be implemented when our ballpark is opened for fans.

FACE MASKS: In accordance with the update provided by Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks on Wednesday, May 26, patrons attending events at Prince George’s Stadium will not be required to wear face masks/coverings beginning with the Baysox home game on Friday, May 28, 2021.

Fans will not be required to wear masks to enter the stadium, nor will fans be required to wear masks within the stadium. Fans that choose to continue to wear a mask to Baysox games and stadium events are welcome to do so. All stadium guests shall respect each fan’s personal choice to either wear or not wear a mask or face covering.

ENHANCED CLEANING & SANITATION: Enhanced daily cleaning procedures include frequent wipe downs of high touch areas such as countertops, railings, doorknobs and elevators, nightly disinfection of all interior areas, and frequent trash removal. Use of EPA-certified cleaning products with reduced dwell times will be used. Restrooms will be cleaned multiple times throughout each game. Hand Sanitizer stations will be located throughout the ballpark.

SOCIALLY DISTANCED SEATING: The Baysox will continue to have a limited number of socially distanced seating sections in the ballpark for Baysox home games beginning with the Baysox homestand that starts on Tuesday, June 15. Those socially distanced seats can be purchased by calling the Baysox Ticket Office at 301.464.4865 and ordering them by phone. These seats are not available for purchase online.

Q: How many fans will be allowed at the games this season?

For games and events through the end of May, the Baysox will have between 25-30% capacity inside Prince George’s Stadium. Beginning in June, will return to full capacity seating operations for all stadium events. This is subject to change based on the guidelines set forth by Prince George’s County and Major League Baseball.

Q: How will seating work for games this season?

When purchasing tickets for 2021 games in May, our ticket system has been designed to place a six-foot buffer around each party. A limit of six (6) tickets may be purchased with the accompanying buffer placed around the party. Fans needing more than six tickets are asked to call our Box Office at 301.464.4865, Monday - Friday, between 10:00 am - 5:00 pm to secure their seats so that we may socially distance your group as required. All aisle seats in the seating bowl have been blocked to ensure needed distancing across sections. The front three rows of Sections 107-118 and 123-124 have all been removed from public sale to create a buffer between high traffic player locations and fans.

With games beginning in June, a majority of stadium seating locations will be open and available for purchase and there will be no limit to the number of tickets you can purchase at a time.

Q: Can I bring a bag into the stadium this season?

The Baysox have enacted a new bag policy for the 2021 season, limiting the types of bags carried into the stadium, not the items that fans normally bring to a game. Beginning this season. each fan may carry one (1) clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag OR a one-gallon clear Ziploc style bag plus a small clutch. The larger clear bag must be a standard 12-inch by 6-inch by 12-inch bag that is easily searched. This proactive measure will enhance safety inside and outside the stadium and speed the security screening process for all fans. Fans carrying bags that do not meet the criteria will be turned away from the stadium to return their bag to their vehicles. Additional information can be found here.
