Division of Unclaimed Funds to reunite Clippers fans with lost money
COLUMBUS, Ohio - On Wednesday, August 28 and Thursday, August 29, the Columbus Clippers will team up with the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Unclaimed Funds for "Missing Money" nights at Huntington Park.
"The Division of Unclaimed Funds has an active outreach program aimed towards increasing the amount of money we return to Ohioans each week," said Director of the Ohio Department of Commerce Andre T. Porter. "This joint effort with the Columbus Clippers is yet another example of how our staff is working to find the rightful owners of these unclaimed accounts."
The Division of Unclaimed Funds will have a booth with staff members behind section 28 near the entrance of Huntington Park. Clippers fans can stop by the booth at any time throughout the game and search for their names for unclaimed funds via the Department's online database.
"The Columbus Clippers and Huntington Park are delighted to participate in "Missing Money" nights with the Department of Commerce," says Clippers President & GM Ken Schnacke. "Rest assured that I will be the FIRST in line these nights to see if the Clippers can uncover any unclaimed funds owed to us. This is a great way to combine a fun night of Clippers Baseball with a very serious and thoughtful project that is trying to return unclaimed funds to their rightful owners."
Unclaimed funds consist of monies or the right to monies that have been dormant. These funds are reported to the State of Ohio for safekeeping until the rightful owners can be found. Some common examples include: dormant saving accounts, credit balances, investments, cashier's checks and refunds from utility and insurance companies.
Ohioans, public agencies and businesses can search for unclaimed funds on the Division's Online Treasure Hunt at any time by visiting www.unclaimedfundstreasurehunt.ohio.gov or by calling the Division toll free at (877) 644-6823.
