Justin Smith and Nicholas Vizcaino both scorched big flies. Smith's homer opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning on a solo shot that went an estimated 434 feet to left center field. The homerun was Smith's first since July 12.
The D-Braves scored five runs in the fifth inning after Kingsport should have earned the third out.
Henry Quintero reached on a called third strike, which should have ended the inning, Kingsport catcher Robby Kidwell threw the ball into right field and Greg Cullen came across to score, extending Danville's lead to 3-0.
The next batter, Ricardo Rodriguez drove in a pair on an RBI single to left, extending Danville's lead to 5-0.
Vizcaino's homerun capped the D-Braves five-run fifth inning with a two-run homer to left. Vizcaino notched his first homerun since June 21 against Pulaski, widening the Braves advantage to 7-0.
In the bottom of the seventh, Brett Langhorne tacked on an RBI single to left, adding to the D-Braves already large lead, 8-0.
Danville's pitching staff posted another solid night on the mound. Matt Hartman made his second start as a professional and threw three scoreless innings with two strikeouts in 50 pitches. Overall, Hartman has thrown seven scoreless innings of baseball since being signed by Atlanta on July 31.
Nolan Kingham followed with three innings of shutout baseball. Over 34 pitches, Kingham earned his second win of his tenure in the pros, allowing two hits and striking out one Mets batter.
After Ryan Shetter allowed a bases-loaded walk to break up the shutout, Bradey Welsh came in and induced a double play allowing one run to score.
The D-Braves will continue its series against the Kingsport Mets tomorrow at Legion Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
