Feight Homers, But TinCaps Drop Series Finale

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Designated hitter Nick Feight  homered for the first time as a TinCap, but Fort Wayne fell, 7-2, in the series finale at Bowling Green Ballpark on Thursday night against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Tampa Bay Rays).

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Designated hitter Nick Feight  homered for the first time as a TinCap, but Fort Wayne fell, 7-2, in the series finale at Bowling Green Ballpark on Thursday night against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Tampa Bay Rays).

Bowling Green (44-22) starter Riley O'Brien didn't allow a hit until first baseman Jalen Washington  singled with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. O'Brien went six innings, allowing two hits and one walk, while striking out eight.
 
The Hot Rods jumped out to a lead early. Jim Haley singled to right field in the bottom of the second to score Carl Chester from third and give Bowling Green its first lead, 1-0. In the third, a two-out error opened the door for three runs to score.
 
Bowling Green extended its lead in the bottom of the sixth, rallying again with two outs. With runners at second and third, Moises Gomez singled to left field to extend the lead to 6-0. Gomez stole second base, and Ronaldo Hernandez singled another ball to left field to score Gomez and give the Hot Rods a commanding 7-0 lead.
 
Fort Wayne (29-37) broke its scoring seal in the top of the seventh. Feight sent a 1-2 pitch over the right-center field wall with third baseman Luis Almanzar  on first to put the TinCaps on the board, 7-2.
 
In the loss, Tirso Ornelas  made his fourth start of the year in center field and went 1-for-3 with a walk to extend his on-base streak to 19 games, the second longest streak of the season by a TinCap. The longest on-base streak of the season is 21 games, set by Juan Fernandez  from April 5 to May 15.
