FORT WAYNE, Ind. - On a night when fans at Parkview Field combined to run 79 laps around the ballpark's concourse to complete 26.2 miles, the TinCaps beat the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians), 3-1, to stay ahead of the pack in the race for the Midwest League Eastern Division's second half wild card.

With five games remaining in the regular season, Fort Wayne has a 1.0 game lead on West Michigan. Meanwhile, Fort Wayne is 2.5 games behind Great Lakes for the second half's top seed. Click here for the latest MWL standings.
The TinCaps (31-33, 63-70) rode a quality start from Tom Cosgrove on Wednesday, combined with reliable relief, some power, and late timely hitting.
Cosgrove, a 22-year-old from Staten Island, N.Y., threw six innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts and no walks.
Fort Wayne gave Cosgrove a lead in the second as catcher Michael Cantu , in his first ever at-bat at Parkview Field, hit an opposite-field solo home run over the wall in right field. The Texas product has three homers through his first five games with the team (the first four of which were on the road).
The Captains (26-38, 55-79) tied the game in the fourth, but from there, Cosgrove retired the final nine batters he faced in order.
With the score still tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning, the TinCaps came through in the clutch. Right fielder Aldemar Burgos had doubled to lead the frame off but was still at second with two outs when third baseman Owen Miller came to the plate. Miller fell behind 0-2, but then worked the count to 2-2, fouled off two pitches, and, on the seventh pitch of his at-bat against Lake County starter Gregori Vasquez, singled to center on a breaking ball to score Burgos. After a wild pitch advanced Miller to second, shortstop Gabriel Arias roped a 1-2 pitch off the wall in right field to drive in Miller for insurance. Arias has at least one extra-base hit in 11 of his last 14 games.
Following Cosgrove, Reiss Knehr fired two scoreless innings-with his family from Glen Head, N.Y. watching in the crowd-and Evan Miller recorded his sixth save of the season in the ninth.
