Manchester, NH- The Hartford Yard Goats (2-6) used a four-run fifth inning to break a tie and defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (6-2) by the score of 8-5 on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. It was the home opener for the Fisher Cats who celebrated their 15th season in the Eastern League. Dom Nuñez drove in three runs, Garrett Hampson added three hits and scored twice and Jesus Tinoco pitched five innings for his first win. The eight runs and 11 hits were both season highs for the Yard Goats who have won consecutive games for the first time. The Yard Goats scored twice in the first inning off Nick Tepesch. Garrett Hampson led off the game with a double and went to third base on a bunt single by Yonathan Daza. Hampson scored on a grounder by Brendan Rodgers to give Hartford a 1-0 lead. Later in the frame, Dom Nunez drove in Rodgers with a solid single to right field to make it 2-0 Hartford. The Yard Goats added a run in the second inning on Hampson's RBI single, scoring Bobby Wernes and it was 3-0 Yard Goats.
