HILLSBORO, OR (February 27, 2019) - The Hillsboro Hops (@HillsboroHops) announced today that Ron Tonkin Field will play host to MLB's Jr. Home Run Derby and Pitch, Hit and Run contests on Saturday, March 30th. The events are FREE for Boys and Girls ages 7-14. The Jr. Home Run Derby will begin at 2:00pm and the Pitch, Hit and Run contest will begin at 3:30pm.

Winners of the competitions on March 30 will advance to the next round (which will take place at Ron Tonkin Field on May 18). Winners of that round advance to the competition at T-Mobile Park in Seattle in June and the final round will be held at the MLB All-Star Game this July in Cleveland.
Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. The grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals during the 2019 MLB All-Star Week.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competitions.
