Orioles' First Round Pick Harvey to Pitch For Aberdeen

August 16, 2013

Aberdeen, MD - The Aberdeen IronBirds and Baltimore Orioles today announced that 2013 first round selection RHP Hunter Harvey will be the starting pitcher for the IronBirds on Tuesday night, August 20th. The IronBirds take on the Hudson Valley Renegades at 7:05 p.m. that evening.

Harvey, 18, the son of former All-Star closer Bryan Harvey, was drafted 22nd overall by the Orioles out of Bandys High School in Catawba, North Carolina. He has pitched in five games for the Gulf Coast League Orioles this season. He has a 1.35 ERA and a 0-0 record in 13.1 innings pitched. He has allowed just two walks while ringing up 18 strikeouts.

"We're all very excited to have Hunter Harvey join our ball club," said IronBirds' Manager Matt Merullo. "He's a first round pick and a great talent, and it will be great to have a chance to see him and help our ball club."

The IronBirds will hold a press conference with Hunter Harvey and IronBirds Manager Matt Merullo. A time and date will be announced soon.

Harvey will join an IronBirds club that is in first place in the McNamara Division and are seeking the first playoff berth in franchise history.

Tuesday night also is Matt Wieters T-Shirt Night at Ripken Stadium. The first 873 fans through the gates will receive a free t-shirt.
