Montgomery, AL - A night after the Smokies blew out Montgomery, it was the Biscuits who went back to what they do best, which is crush Smokies pitching. Montgomery scored in six of eight innings against Tennessee, which included two innings of four run baseball in their 12-4 win.
Yasiel Balaguert got the games scoring started in the first inning. The Smokies first baseman hit a three run home run, his third of the season after the Biscuits had put the first two Smokies hitters on base with free passes. Duane Underwood Jr. was handed a three run lead, but the Biscuits hitters went right back to work with another hit fest. Underwood allowed three straight Biscuits hitters to reach base in the second inning, which was followed with a three run homer off the bat of Michael Russell to vault the Biscuits to a four run frame. Underwood finished with nine earned runs in 3.2 innings of work.
Tennessee would tie the score in the third on RBI single delivered by Jason Vosler, but from there it was all Montgomery. The Biscuits would tack on a run in the bottom of the third inning, and would force Underwood out of the game in the fourth with a four run inning. Montgomery would add three more runs before it was all said and done, taking four of five with Tennessee in the 12-4 victory.
Tennessee returns to Smokies Stadium Sunday evening for the first of six with the Birmingham Barons. Zach Hedges will take the mound for Tennessee, while Matt Cooper takes the hill for the Barons.
