Captains Lose Fourth in Row, 6-1 to Snappers

(Beloit, WI)- Beloit won their second straight against Lake County on Saturday night with a 6-1 win. Snapper starter Pat Dean no-hit the Captains through 6.2 innings en route to his first win of the season.

Beloit got all the scoring they needed in the bottom of the third inning. Wang-Wei Lin led things off with a solo homerun to giving the Snappers a 1-0 lead. Michael Gonzales and Daniel Ortiz hit back to back doubles to make it 2-0. Jario Perez added a third run with an RBI single to right.

In the fourth, Beloit added three more for a 6-0 lead. RBI singles from Hyeong-Rok Choi, Daniel Santana and Nate Roberts provided the scoring.

In the top of the seventh inning, and two outs, the Snappers made a pitching change as Nelvin Fuentes entered in relief of Dean. Jesus Aguilar quickly ended the no-hit bid with a single to leftfield.

The Captains got their only run in the top of the ninth innings, Anthony Gallas who walked with one out reached and came around and scored on Jesus Aguilar's RBI single to center making it 6-1.

Pat Dean (1-0) picked up his first win of the season tossing 6.2 scoreless innings of no-hit baseball, walking just two and striking out a season high nine. Cole Cook (2-7) took the loss allowing all six runs on eleven hits, walking two and striking out four.

Lake County takes on Beloit on Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field at 3:00PM, to wrap up their six game road trip. Getting the start for the Captains will RHP Mike Goodnight (5-3) against RHP A.J. Achter (0-1) for the Snappers. Catch all the action ESPN 970 WFUN or online at captainsbaseball.com.
