The Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians Class A Affiliate) are excited to provide elementary and middle school teachers and their students the opportunity to become an All-Star Reader and take part in our 2018 Reading Program. The Captains Reading Program, now in its 15th year, encourages literacy and reading comprehension inside and outside the classroom for traditional and non-traditional K-8 schools. The program wouldn't be the success it has become without the help from great Educators like you!
The Captains Reading Program is FREE, turn-key, incentive-based and aspires to help students discover the joy and rewards of reading. Receiving Captains prizes along the way, students work toward reaching their reading goals set forth by their individual educators. Last year, the Reading Program had readers from Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties. Over 2,000 teachers and nearly 36,000 students participated in the program!
Upon completion of the program, students are rewarded with a FREE ticket to a Lake County Captains home game, a hot dog, plus a kids' zone voucher and a gift at the game! Participating teachers also receive a complimentary ticket.
