Margevicius Shines at The Diamond

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - Tuesday night kicked off a short midweek home stand against the Visalia Rawhide, Class-A Advanced affiliates of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Storm got the start from Padres rehabber Bryan Mitchell, who went four innings and allowed two earned runs, but the hits never really translated into runs for Lake Elsinore. After scoring a pair in the bottom of the second, the scoring stopped and the Rawhide would take the series opener, 4-2.
Wednesday night's game went much differently for the home team. Under a smoke-laden sky, the Storm got off to a quick start by scoring three runs in the first frame. With Nick Margevicius tossing seven dominant innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits, Lake Elsinore cruised to an 11-2 win. Twenty Storm hitters reached based via either a hit, walk or hit by pitch.
Luis Torrens paced the offense with a four-hit night that included his 31^st double and fifth home run of the season. The catcher plated four runs and crossed the plate twice himself. Edward Olivares collected three base hits himself and drove in three runs.
Thursday night's game would decide the series and it never looked good for the home team. The Rawhide held a 9-0 lead through five innings while the Storm hadn't gotten a base hit. Shortstop Chris Baker would connect for a double, the team's only base hit of the game, as the Storm dropped the rubber match, 11-0.
The tam comes back to The Diamond August 17^th for a three-game series against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes before taking on the Inland Empire 66ers the 21^st through the 23^rd.
