Tyler Gentry homered twice and Luisangel Acuna, the No, 7 Texas prospect, also went deep to power Surprise in its 8-6 win over Salt River. Down two runs early, Acuna’s solo homer to left center jumpstarted the Saguaros’ four-run third, with Gentry pulling his first of the day, a two-run jack, to cap the inning. Pirates fifth-ranked prospect Nick Gonzales added run-scoring hits in the fourth and sixth before Gentry left the yard again in the seventh, the Royals’ eighth-ranked prospect socking a solo homer to center. Pedro Pages homered, doubled and drove in two runs for a Rafters team that got an impressive one-inning AFL debut from right-hander Tink Hence. Peoria 9, Glendale 8
Nationals 30th-ranked prospect Drew Millas is known more for his defensive ability behind the plate, but one of his finest offensive days as a pro powered Peoria to its 9-8 victory over Glendale. Millas homered, doubled and connected for a walk-off single from the eight-hole in the lineup to lead the Javelinas to a thrilling win. Kevin Kendall homered and Padres top prospect Jackson Merrill logged three hits for Peoria. Dodgers' No. 16 prospect Jorbit Vivas, Reds No. 16 Rece Hinds and Terrell Tatum enjoyed multihit games for the Desert Dogs. Glendale starter and No. 20 Milwaukee prospect Russell Smith’s three scoreless innings were a highlight on the pitching side, as was Alek Jacob’s three-strikeout sixth inning for Peoria. More »
