MONTGOMERY, Ala. –The Biscuits (36-30) scored four runs early and held on to a 4-3 win over Pensacola Blue Wahoos (37-33) on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Reliever Jack Labosky made just his second start of the season for the Biscuits, and the right-hander set the Wahoos down in order in the top of the first, picking up a strikeout in the process.

Zach McCambley (0-2) was on the other side for Pensacola, and after retiring the first batter of the game in Garrett Whitley, the righty allowed a single to Xavier Edwards. The Biscuits second baseman then stole second and moved to third on a throwing error by Wahoos catcher Jhon Nunez. Jonathan Aranda then knocked in Edwards with an RBI-groundout to second to put the Biscuits up 1-0 in the first.

In the bottom of the second, Chris Betts crushed his first Double-A home run off the foul pole in right to double the Biscuits lead to 2-0. Then Aranda came through again, this time with a two-run single to left in the third to make it a 4-0 game.

Labosky went three perfect innings, striking out four, before handing the reins over to Adrian De Horta, who surrendered a couple of runs in the top of the fourth on a Nick Fortes RBI-fielder’s choice and an RBI-double by Griffin Conine that cut the Pensacola deficit in half to 4-2.

De Horta worked a scoreless fifth and then Mikey York a scoreless sixth to preserve the two-run advantage. Jordan Brink (3-0) came on for a scoreless seventh before serving up a solo home run to Fortes to make it a 4-3 contest in the eighth. Chris Muller came on in the top of the ninth and struck out the side to earn his seventh save, and the Biscuit win—the Butter and Blue’s ninth in 10 games.

The Biscuits will try win their 10th game in 11 tries on Saturday when Peyton Battenfield (3-0) goes up against Jeff Lindgren (3-6) on Christmas in July with MAX Fireworks at 6:05 PM CT.
