Biscuits Rally, Beat M-Braves, 7-4

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After falling behind 4-0 in the fourth, the Biscuits (25-26) rallied and ripped off seven unanswered runs en route to a 7-4 victory over the Mississippi Braves (31-21) on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Easton McGee started for the Biscuits and struck out the first two batters he faced in Justin Dean and Trey Harris before serving up three singles to C.J. Alexander, Shea Langeliers, and Braden Shewmake, the last of which put Mississippi up 1-0 in the top of the first. Mississippi starter A.J. Puckett (1-4) allowed a single to Cal Stevenson, but kept the Biscuits off the board in the first.

In the fourth, the M-Braves got an RBI-double to left-center by Drew Lugbauer to make it 2-0, and then an RBI-single to left by Jalen Miller made it 3-0. McGee then exited the game after hitting Justin Dean. Jordan Brink (1-0) came on and an RBI-fielder’s choice by Harris made it a 4-0 game.

Ruben Cardenas’ solo homer to straightaway center pulled one back for the Biscuits in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth, the Biscuits hung four on the right-hander Puckett, beginning with a an RBI-single single from Stevenson, and an errant throw by the right-fielder Harris brought home another. Then a two-run single by Cardenas handed Montgomery their first lead of the game at 5-4.

Ford Proctor tripled in the sixth, and scored the Biscuits’ sixth run on an Emmanuel Ramirez wild pitch. Brink worked 2.2 scoreless innings, and Dalton Moats worked 1.2 scoreless innings of relief as well. Alex Valverde recorded the final out of the top of the eighth.

Proctor tripled again and knocked in a run with the three-bagger to right in the eighth and has now reached base in nine-consecutive trips to the plate. Chris Muller came on in the ninth and for the second-straight night closed things out with ease for the save.

The Biscuits will go for their second-straight series win in Sunday’s series finale at 6:05 PM CT with an Independence Day Celebration with MAX Fireworks.
