MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Biscuits (48-47/20-13) sent the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (50-47/15-18) home belly up as they defeated them 7-6 Sunday afternoon at Riverwalk Stadium. The Biscuits willed their way to a third-straight win as they came up clutch late in the game after a dominating start.

Biscuits Brett Wisely wasted no time introducing Blue Wahoos’ A.J Ludwig (6-3, 4.43) to his bat. Wisely went yard to right for a solo home run on the first pitch. Biscuit starter Zack Trageton (0-4, 7.46) starts off on a good note with two quick innings. Back at the plate, “Mr. Triple”, Jordan Qsar recorded his sixth triple of the year and brought Osleivis Basabe home to go up 2-0. In the very next at-bat, catcher Roberto Alvarez smacked another triple that bounced off the left field wall and extended the lead to 3-0.

In the third, the Blue Wahoos broke the tie and got on the board thanks to an RBI-single from Nasim Nunez. In the next inning, Pensacola Demetrius Sims delivered a go-ahead home run to left center that gave the Blue Wahoos their first lead of the afternoon, 4-3 Blue Wahoos.

Montgomery tied it up in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run from Erik Ostberg to right field to lead off the side. Sims recorded another RBI for his fourth of the day when he delivered an RBI-single to put Pensacola back in front 5-4 in the top of the sixth.

Near closing time Pensacola kept their foot on the Biscuits’ neck as they added on another run in the top of the eight to stay on top of their lead. Sims drove in his fifth RBI with an RBI-double that put the Blue Wahoos up 6-4. In the bottom of the inning, Ronny Simon came up clutch with a game-tying two-run, two-out home run that slowly drifted past the right field wall and put the Biscuits back in position, 6-6. Still in the eighth and with two outs, Montgomery took the lead with a RBI-double from Ostberg as the Biscuits entered the ninth up 7-6. Before tonight, Montgomery was 12-1 when leading in the eight in the 2nd half of the season.

Biscuits relief, Alan Strong closed out the inning, one-two-three, and sent the boys in blue and the Montgomery crowd home with a win. The Biscuits walk away Sunday afternoon with a series win, first place Division lead, and a three-game winning streak. The Biscuits return to action Tuesday when they head to Birmingham to face the Birmingham Barons for a six-game road series.
