PEARL, Mis. – The Biscuits (57-55) snapped their season-high seven-game losing skid with an impressive 6-3 win over the Mississippi Braves (65-41) on Saturday night at Trustmark Park.

Spencer Strider (3-7) started on the mound for the M-Braves, and Xavier Edwards doubled off the right-hander to begin the game. Edwards moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored the game’s first run on Ford Proctor’s RBI-groundout to make it 1-0 Biscuits early. Jack Labosky (1-4) started on the other side for the Biscuits and retired the M-Braves in order in the bottom of the first.

The Biscuits would add another run against Strider on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch worn by Chris Betts that made it 2-0 in the top of the second. The M-Braves would battle back in the bottom of the second with a three-run home run to left off the bat of Hendrik Clementina to make it 3-2 Mississippi.

The Biscuits would retake the lead in the top of the third thanks to a Cal Stevenson RBI-triple and an RBI-groundout by Jim Haley to make it a 4-3 contest. Labosky then spun another one-two-three inning, notching his first strikeout, in the top of the third. The Biscuits would add another run in the top of the fourth to make it 5-3 on Jonathan Aranda’s sac fly.

Indigo Diaz, who had not allowed an earned run over 15 innings for Mississippi, came on for the M-Braves in the top of the sixth and served up a double to Michael Smith and then an RBI-single to Edwards to make it 6-3 Biscuits. Labosky went six innings for the first time as a starter, surrendering just two hits and striking out five, while retiring the final 13 batters he faced.

Justin Sterner took the reins from Labosky and worked a one-two-three bottom of the seventh, tallying a strikeout. Sterner picked up his second strikeout in a scoreless eighth, and then worked a scoreless ninth to secure a three-inning save, and the win.
