PENSACOLA, Flo. – The Biscuits (17-20) shook off a tough loss on Tuesday night and defeated the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (22-16) in game two of a six-game set, 7-3, on Wednesday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Peyton Battenfield (1-0) made his Double-A debut for the Biscuits, and after the Butter and Blue failed to score with the bases loaded and nobody out in the top of the first against Will Stewart (2-3), Battenfield struck out the side in the bottom of the first getting Demetrius Sims and Peyton Burdick swinging, and Lorenzo Hamilton looking.

Battenfield, who retired the first eight batters he faced before allowing a two-out single to Devin Hairston, got some help from Miles Mastrobuoni who struck an RBI-single into left field to put the Biscuits up 1-0 in the third. In the fourth, Ford Proctor would double that lead to 2-0 with an RBI-single of his own.

Battenfield ended up going five shutout innings and surrendered just two singles, no walks, and eight strikeouts to polish off his Double-A debut. And in the top of the fifth, the Biscuits would add three more runs to their total courtesy of a throwing error by Wahoos catcher Nick Fortes, Seaver Whalen’s RBI-single, and an infield RBI-double by Proctor to make it 5-0. The Wahoos committed an eye-popping five errors through the first five innings.

Joel Peguero would come on for Battenfield in the sixth and a two-out, two-run double down the right field line off the bat of Jerar Encarnacion finally got the Wahoos on the board at 5-2. Jordan Brink then came on to work a scoreless seventh to preserve the 5-2 advantage.

In the eighth, the Biscuits added two more runs courtesy of a Nick Fortes passed ball and another RBI-single by Mastrobuoni, which made it 7-2. Brink allowed a solo home run to Demetrius Sims in the eighth, but retired the rest to keep it 7-3. And Alex Valverde pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win. The Biscuits have now won nine of their last 14 games.

The Biscuits will go for two in a row against the Blue Wahoos on Thursday when RHP Tobias Myers (2-2) faces RHP Max Meyer (3-1) at 6:35 PM CT.
