CHATTANOOGA, Ten. – The Biscuits (49-47/21-13) knocked the Chattanooga Lookouts (46-57/12-22) out of the park as they defeated them 9-3 in the series opener Tuesday night at AT&T Field. The night saw the debut of Biscuits Kyle Manzardo who reached base twice and recorded an RBI in their win.

Biscuits Greg Jones put the first run on the board with a ground out that scored Brett Wisely after his triple. Newly acquired Manzardo reached base on a fielding error by Lookouts shortstop Elly De La Cruz. The error scored Osleivis Basabe that put the Biscuits up 2-0.

In the next at-bat Lookouts starter delivered a bases-loaded walk to Diego Infante that scored Kameron Misner and put the Biscuits up 3-0. In the top of the second, Manzardo delivered an RBI-double line drive to right to make it four unanswered runs in the first two innings for Montgomery. In the bottom of the second inning, Alex McGarry smashed a solo home run to erase the goose egg and finally put the Lookouts on the board 4-1.

In the top of the third, Jones delivered an RBI-single to grow the lead 5-1. Basabe followed that up with an RBI-double that put the Biscuits up six, 7-1. Misner continued the flow for the Biscuits with another RBI-double that rolled into right field and made it 8-1.

Chattanooga was able to rack in another run from shortstop Elly De La Cruz via an RBI-double that put a small dent in the massive Biscuit lead, 8-2. After four scoreless innings from both sides, Montgomery recorded another run for good measure in the form of a wild pitch by Ryan Olson that made it 9-2. In the bottom of the ninth, Chattanooga cut the lead to 9-3 where it stayed as Andrew Gross closed the game and Joe LaSorsa recorded his second win as a Biscuit.

With the win, the Biscuits are now 21-13 in the second half and hold the top record in the Southern League. Since being a season-high nine games under .500 (24-33) on June 21st, the Biscuits are 25-14. Montgomery will look to make it five in a row when LHP John Doxakis faces Carson Spiers Wednesday at 6:15 PM CT.
