COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia Fireflies bats were shutdown for a third consecutive night, as the Fireflies lost 8-0 to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Stadium Sunday.

Columbia (7-14) was no-hit for the first time since Myrtle Beach (15-6) tossed a no-no at Segra Park against the Fireflies June 24, 2021. The Fireflies have been held to 10 hits in their last three games against Myrtle Beach and they have scored two runs in that time. It’s the third time Columbia has been shut out in the first 21 games of the season.

Matt Stil (L, 0-1) was charged for the loss, as he allowed one run in 2.1 innings. The righty was pulled after walking five hitters before the end of the third. The fourth was the break-through inning for the Pelicans. They scored half a dozen runs off Delvin Capellan, pushing his season ERA from a team-low 1.00 to 5.73 before he got the hook.

Columbia returns home to start a six-game series with the Delmarva Shorebirds Tuesday at Segra Park at 7:05 pm. Both teams have yet to designate their starting pitchers for the game.

The Fireflies return home for a series vs the Delmarva Shorebirds May 2-8. The series will include a t-shirt giveaway, a Star Wars- themed fireworks show, a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday and much more fun! Tickets are available at FirefliesTickets.com.
